Helen Marie Dunne, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on May 3, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois. Her unwavering kindness and infectious humor touched the lives of everyone she knew. Helen’s journey through life was one of devotion and joy. She shared a beautiful marriage of 60 years with her beloved husband, Philip Dunne Sr., and together they created a legacy of love with their children Philip (Cheryl) Dunne Jr., Bryant (Melissa) Dunne, Matthew (Jamie Lynn) Dunne, and Amanda (Michael) Shannon. Helen was the cherished grandmother to Tyler, Layna, Gabriel, Rachel, Haylee, Sarah, Elijah, Johnathan, and Levi, whose accomplishments and dreams she supported with all her heart. Helen was a sister to Dollu (Charlie) Glaser, Thomas McTighe, and Maureen (Dennis) Schiesser, and a sister-in-law to Gene (Eileen) Dunne, Sheila Dunne and Barbara McTighe Wydra. She was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, who will remember her for her warmth and generosity. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy (nee Schwarz) McTighe, her siblings James T. McTighe Jr., Patricia Rossiter, Kathleen Heinemann, and Margaret Beristain, her brother-in-law Gary Dunne and her nieces and nephews Regina Jendreg, Ashley Grajek, Daniel Rossiter, Nicholas Tighe Beristain, and Thomas McTighe. Helen attended Oak Lawn High School. Helen raised a family that would grow to be her greatest pride and joy. She attended Parkview Christian Church. She was an avid fan of baseball, relishing the strategy and excitement of “The Swing.” Her laughter often filled the room during episodes of “Seinfeld,” and her sense of humor was a source of delight for all who knew her. Above all, Helen’s life was centered around her faith in Jesus and her deep love for her family. Those who knew Helen would describe her as loving, funny, and kind. Her unwavering support, whether from the sidelines of a grandchild’s sporting event or during family gatherings at her home, was a testament to her loving nature. Helen’s funny anecdotes and jokes were the heartbeat of many family gatherings, leaving a legacy of joy and laughter. Helen’s kindness was felt in every gentle word and every act of compassion. She had the gift of making everyone feel special and loved, a trait that will be profoundly missed by her family and friends. As we say farewell to Helen Marie Dunne, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the grace of a woman who was truly one of a kind. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Helen’s life was a beautiful tapestry of faith, family, and friendship, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly through her loved ones. Visitation for Helen will take place on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 2-6:00 p.m. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the following day at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Manhattan Center Cemetery, Manhattan, IL.
