Born on December 20, 1946, in Leon, Nicaragua, Carie was a trailblazer in both her personal and professional life. A savvy business owner and a proud single mother, she built a lasting legacy through her dedication and perseverance. For over 50 years, she was the proud owner of Hair Revolution in Evergreen Park, Illinois, where she cultivated not only a successful business but also a community of loyal clients who valued her skill and warmth.

Carie was deeply devoted to her faith and held a special reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. Her spirituality provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life. She always had extra rosaries on hand to give to others as a special way to share her faith. The Festival of the Conception (“La Griteria”) was one of her most treasured celebrations of her Catholic faith.

Carie lived her life on her own terms, always proud of the path she chose. She often shared with her daughter that she had accomplished everything she set out to do, saying, “No regrets.” A dedicated supporter of numerous charitable causes, Carie had a special place in her heart for Mercy Ship. She was also a passionate advocate for animals, frequently rescuing stray dogs and adopting from local rescue groups.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Amanda “Amy” Chassuel-Mahon (Steven) and their many furbabies, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Gregory Palma, her parents, and several of her 14 siblings. A number of her own furbabies will also be waiting to greet her at the Rainbow Bridge.

Carie’s pioneering spirit and unwavering determination will be remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Carie requests donations be made in her name to Mercy Ships.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carie will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM at St Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 10621 S Kedvale Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
