Kathryn Tegels

Kathryn R. Tegels, age 97, of Oak Forest, IL, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2021 with her loving daughters at her side singing her favorite songs.
Kay is the loving wife to the late Raymond Tegels; beloved mother to Betty (the late Robert) Jacobson, Peggy Kilpatrick, and Kathi (Tom) Hacker; cherished grandmother to Mark, Julie, Peter, Paul, Eric, Jessica, Kristen, Lauren and JR; proud “Grammie” to Michael, Spencer, Elliot, Natalie, Emily, Lila, Ally, Caleb, Peanut, Jacob, and the late Mark Jr.; great-great-grandmother to Josie, Lily, Mikey and Lyla; cherished sister to the late Alice, the late Margaret, the late Crystal, the late Martha, the late Lola, the late Victor, the late Hugh, the late Ralph, the late Jay, the late Florence, and Ruth; treasured aunt to many.
Kay was raised on a farm in Minnesota with her 11 siblings. Her large family enjoyed singing, eating chicken and noodles, and sleigh rides. She met and married the love of her life and was a World War II bride. She and her husband raised their family in Harvey where she was an active parishioner at Ascension Catholic Church. Kay was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed attending games at Wrigley. Eric, her grandson became a golf instructor to Kay and Ray in their later years, and they enjoyed many years on the golf course together. Kay came alive during the Christmas Season, planning and preparing for her family parties for weeks.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 9:30 am until time of prayers at Brady-Gill Funeral Home. Prayer will begin at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 12 noon at St. Alexander Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. Those wishing to attend Kay’s Mass of Christian Burial are encouraged to RSVP on her obituary website.
