Sally MacFarlane
November 13,1943 – December 23, 2021
Sally MacFarlane (nee Stinson) of Palos Heights and formerly of Hickory Hills and Evergreen Park passed away Thursday, December 23rd at home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife and best friend of Al “Sandy” for over 57 years. Loving mom of Mary Ann (Tim) Neumann, Bill (Rebecca) and Jeannie (Marty) McGrory. Proud grandma of Jake and Sean Neumann and Alex and Maggie MacFarlane. Dearest daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Stinson and sister of the late Helen Stinson. Daughter in law of the late Alex and Anne MacFarlane. Fond sister-in-law and aunt of many nieces and nephews. Sally grew up in Evergreen Park, attending Most Holy Redeemer. She spent many of her summers visiting her dad’s family in Virginia. In 1961 Sally graduated from Evergreen Park High School and attended Northern Illinois University. While home from school she met the love of her life, Al. They were married in 1964 and started their family. Sally and Al raised their three children in Hickory Hills at St. Patricia’s Parish. In 1990, Sally finished her teaching degree at St. Xavier University and began her career as a 3rd grade teacher at St. Pat’s. Sally loved her students and teaching in the parish in which she raised her kids. In 2008, she retired and happily spent retirement with Al, her family and their dog. Her happiest days were spent with her grandchildren – being there for them after school, taking countless trips to the park and playing in the creek with them. Sally was a diehard Cubs fans and loved traveling with Al and the family to Arizona for Spring Training. Sally was an avid gardener and kept an immaculate home. Those were her prides. However, Sally’s greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful and loving mom, wife and grandmother. She was a blessing to us all and she will be greatly missed but will forever be in our hearts.
