Gerald R. Eichensehr, Sr., age 79, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy D. Eichensehr (nee Augustyn); children: Maryann (Scott) Bowers, Marcie (Greg) Mokol, Shelly (Gary) Robinson and Mark Eichensehr; grandchildren: Diana (David) Cole, Victoria (Jason) Bultema, Melaina Blanchard, Hannah Blanchard, Olivia Bowers, Ty Bowers, Angie Lloyd, Holly (Brandon) Ogorek, Gerald “Rob” Eichensehr, III, Brandi (Rob) Gravel, Katie (Theo) McCarty, Tommy (Leah) Jewett and Harley (Amanda) Jewett; 24 great grandchildren; nephews: Johnny “Ike” and Jimmy. Gerald was preceded in death by his children: Gerald “Rob” Eichensehr, Jr. and Nancy Eichensehr; parents: Albert and Ethel Eichensehr; grandchild, Joshua Jewett; and nephew, Jeffery Eichensehr.
Gerald was born on November 27, 1942, in Hammond, IN to Albert and Ethel Eichensehr. Jerry met the love of his life, Nancy Augustyn at Rand McNally in Hammond when they were only 18 years old. They married a year later and would have celebrated 60 Years of Marriage on February 24. Besides being a Truck driver, he had a side job of fixing washers and dryers. Jerry enjoyed fishing in Missouri at his in-laws. He was most proud of all to have earned the title of “Grandpa”.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at 4:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home 6955 Southeastern Avenue Hammond, IN 46324, with Father Theodore Mens of Saint Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at LaHayne Funeral Home.
