Michael Irwin Waxman
Michael Waxman, 80, of Antioch, Illinois, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 30, 2023. “Mike” is survived by his wife Charla, daughter Jill (Katie), brother, Richard (Barbara), niece Karyn, nephew David (Karen). Referred to as ‘brother’ by friends Mollie Bodie and sister-in-law Vira Lewark, mike was loved by many. Mike held an MBA and Master’s Degrees in accounting and finance; working in banking, mental health, and long term care. Mike was adjunct faculty at Webster University, lake Forest Graduate School, Northeastern University, and St. Francis.
Mike was active in his community; volunteering with Kiwanis International as Lt Governor, past President, and treasurer; Northern Illinois Recovery Community Organization as treasurer; Lake County Sheriff’s Senior Advisory board as treasurer and past Vice President; and as a Mental Health First Aid Trainer for Lake and McHenry Counties. He was proud to serve as the Governor’s Appointed Chair of the Long Term Care Committee for Illinois and President of Lake County Board of Health for more than 10 years. Mike loved volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, Operation Snowball, Illinois Teen Institute, and any program that needed him! He was a talented and seasoned presenter on mental health, finance, and leadership.
Mike loved to talk, meet people, and spending time enjoying meals with friends. His friendships and his volunteer relationships and opportunities meant so much to him.
