Andrew Fletsch III
Andrew Fletsch III 1928 – 2023
Andrew was born in Dubuque, IA on April 24, 1928. He was the eldest son of Dorothy (nee McElroy) and Andrew Fluetsch Jr. Andy was a graduate of the Western Military Academy and the University of Dubuque. He loved swimming, skiing, traveling and sailing. He built his own sailboat and participated in many races. He was known for his dry wit, kindness and generosity.
Andy was the treasurer of the Testor Corp. in Rockford, IL for 30+ years. He was a longtime member of the board of the Winnebago Chapter of the American Cancer Society and served several terms as chapter president. Andy was also on the board of the Barbara Olson School of Hope, and a member of the Rockford Kiwanis Club, the University Club of Rockford as well as the Mauh Nah Tee See Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife Jean, his son Andrew IV, his brother David (Tina) Fluetsch, his sister-in-law Mary (Larry) Garetto; nieces Ellen (David) Herman, Amanda (Patrick) Melvin and nephews David (Sheryl) Fluetsch, John Fluetsch, Larry Garetto, Peter (Natalie) Garetto and Jack Garetto as well as 7 great nieces.
Visitation Monday 9:30 a.m. until time of Service 11:00 a.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL. A live stream link will be available just prior to the Service.
Interment St. Mary Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Andy’s name to Home of Guiding Hands, 1908 Friendship Dr., El Cajon, CA 92020. They are an organization serving the developmentally disabled and the long time residence of Andrew IV.
