Joan G. Berke, nee Grinker, 90, of Glenview passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 5th. Beloved mother of Lisa Kobesak (Robert) and Steven Berke (Elizabeth); devoted grandmother of Samantha Berke, Rebecca Urban (Christine), Jessica Urban (Jacob), Eden Berke, and Aviva Berke; proud great-grandmother of Connor Berke; adored by her brother-in-law Buddy Cohen; loving aunt, daughter, and treasured friend of many. She was preceded in death by her beloved son David Berke, daughter-in-law Rosalind Foy Berke, and cherished sister Bernice Cohen. A Northwestern alum and former teacher, Joan was an avid tennis player, theater goer, and Bears fan. She loved spending time with her family and was ferociously loyal to those she loved. She will be deeply missed. Funeral service Thurs, April 7, 1 PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette. It will also be streamed on Joan’s page at www.weinsteinandpiserfuneralhome.com. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of the charity of your choice.
