John M. Speight
July 8, 2003 — October 31, 2024
John Michael Speight, 21, of New Lenox, IL, completed his journey on Thursday, October 31st, leaving this life far too soon. Born in Chapel Hill, NC, he was the cherished son of Gail (Spaulding) Gannon and Jonathon Speight. He was raised with love and dedication by his mother, Gail (Spaulding) Gannon, who stood by him through every step. He was the beloved stepson of Norman Rendon, who guided him with unwavering love and support. An adored brother to Sam Weiland and Floyd Speight, John was a treasured grandson of Robert and Judie Spaulding, and Patricia and Michael Walsh. He was a much-loved nephew to Laurie Meyer and Robin Speight, a dear cousin to Amy (Mike) Valenti, and Skye, and a devoted friend to many.
John graduated with the class of 2021 from Andrew High School and attended Joliet Junior College, where he pursued a career in fire science. He was employed at Raising Cane’s in New Lenox, and those who knew him best will remember his infectious humor, his unwavering loyalty to friends, his love of music, and especially his skill at playing the guitar. John brought light and laughter into every room, leaving lasting memories with everyone who crossed his path. In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, https://afsp.org/chapter/illinois, would be appreciated. Family and friends are invited to join us in a Celebration of John’s life on Sunday, November 10th, 2024, at Kurtz Memorial Chapel from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. This memorial is a time to honor and remember the joy and warmth John brought into our lives. A Memorial Prayer Service will follow, offering us a moment of reflection and comfort. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
