Beloved wife of the late James T. “Jim” Clarke for 63 years.
Loving mother of Jim (Sherry), the late Margaret Irene (the late John) Rooney, John (Cathy), Maura (Mark) Saas, and the late infant William Clarke.
Loving grandmother of Anna (Matt) O’Donnell, Jay, Bill (Meg), and Jaclyn (Jason) Clarke; Ned, Jack (Caroline), and Dan Rooney; Sean, Sarah, and Patrick Clarke; Will (fiancé Emily Murray), TJ, Catherine, and Elizabeth Saas. Adoring great-grandmother of Margaret James, Charlotte Rae, and Dorothy Rose O’Donnell, and Bridget Margaret Rooney.
Beloved daughter of Lawrence and Irene Duffy (nee Burke)
Dear sister of the late Marjorie (late Charles) Faupel, and dear sister-in-law of the late Jack (late Eileen), and Bill Clarke.
Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Lovingly cared for by David Majchrowicz, who has been an important part of our family for the past 11 years.
Alumna of St. Leo Grammar School, Academy of Our Lady (Longwood Academy) H.S. (1953), Chicago’s Teacher’s College (1957), and Chicago State University (MS, Urban Education)
Longtime parishioner of Christ the King Parish.
Maryirene taught for 35 years with the Chicago Board of Education, including many years at Vanderpoel School in the Beverly Hills community.
Maryirene enjoyed gardening, reading, the theatre & opera; was a member of many book clubs, and a faithful counter at Christ the King.
Family and friends will meet at Christ the King Church, 9235 S. Hamilton Ave., Chicago, IL 60643 on Friday, March 14, 2025, for visitation from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, March 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
(All services will be held at Christ the King Church)
Entombment Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials to the Christ the King School Foundation are most appreciated.
