Marie C. Loretan
April 13, 1935 – April 13, 2021
Marie (Mitzi) Loretan (née Kratzer), went home to God on April 13, 2021, her 86th birthday.
She was the loving wife of the late Philip Loretan.
Mitzi is survived by Dawn, Bryan, and Brody Harden, Ray and Nancy Kratzer, Eileen Gruber, members of the Loretan Family, and many nieces and nephews. Family members Frank and Bonnie Kratzer, Joe and Betty Kratzer, Margaret and Marshall Peterson, and John Gruber await her in heaven.
Mitzi grew up in Chicago in St. Sabina Parish, graduated from Mercy High School and Dominican University and served God for 21 years as a Sinsinawa Dominican sister.
Her desire to do God’s work in another way brought her to Tuskegee, AL where she met Phil and they married in 1977. It was a match made in heaven. Their mutual goal of working with the underserved brought about the establishment of a farm Co-op and their long back breaking hours working in the fields gave them “the happiest time of their lives.” They are remembered by their many, many, friends in Tuskegee for their kindness, generosity, and strong faith.
A memorial service will be held in Tuskegee at a later date followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
