Matthew P. Walsh
December 4, 1941 — December 28, 2022
Matthew Patrick Walsh of Palos Heights, IL passed peacefully at the age of 81 years old on 12/28/22 at 12:22 p.m. He was born in Chicago on December 4,1941 to Peter and Helen Walsh.
He is survived by his two loving children, Matthew (Cathy) Walsh, Michelle Walsh (Brendan) Ozanne. Matthew was the proud Papa of Hope Catherine, Matthew Finnegan, McKenna Margaret, Ella Grace and Brody Matthew. Paw-Papa to Clover and Jax. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice and brother, Daniel.
Matthew was a prominent and successful attorney starting his career in the State’s Attorney’s Office in 1965. He then went into private practice in 1972 with the firm of Walsh & Neville and later Walsh Fewkes & Sterba. As an attorney he represented – at one point or another – probably most of the South Side of Chicago.
He was a Board Member at Moraine Valley Community College for 20 years and spearheaded the fundraising efforts to create the Performing Arts Center.
Matthew attended Little Flower Grade School, Leo High School, St. Joseph’s College (Rensselaer, Ind.) and graduated from De Paul University Law School.
Visitation Tuesday, January 3rd from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Chapel prayers Wednesday, January 4th, 9:30 a.m. from the Kerry Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 10:00 a.m.
Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
