George Skizas

George Skizas

November 2, 1951 – December 6, 2020

Skizas, George Age 69 Beloved husband of 47 years to Christine (nee Bares). Devoted father of Christian (Christine) Skizas, Jennifer (Mark) Beier, and Peter (Leslie) Skizas. Proud grandfather of Peter, Olivia, Elli Rose, Sebastian, Peyton, Tucker, Taylor, and William. Dear son of the late George and Rose Skizas. Brother of Gerald (Lynn) Skizas, and the late Marilyn (Greg) Strobel. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. George’s life comprises many personal accomplishments, including graduations from St. Thomas More, Brother Rice, and Loras College (where he started as quarterback). Meeting Christine (wife) his sophomore year, they began 47 years full of love, laughter, and an unparalleled commitment to each other, which then extended to their family. Through mentoring his children in athletics, fostering their educations, and providing a dynamic love as the center of their family, George Skizas was more than the figurehead. His words became wisdom, his laughter filled the room, his praise was glorified, and his fierce love brought all of his family together – whether immediate or extended. George also found much joy and friendships in the years he spent as a Marketing Manager at Union Beverage Co. While music filled his house, and cheers rang loud, George was a humble contributor to the lives of many and will be greatly missed. He passed after a blessed and fulfilled life, with great care and attention from the Hematology staff at Northwestern, Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and Joliet Area Hospice. His warmth, wisdom, and strength will live on in his eight grandkids. Services and interment private. George’s Mass will be live streamed Monday, December 21st, at 10:00
