Terence “Terry” McSweeney

It is with deep sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Terence “Terry” McSweeney on January 4, 2022 at the age 58 in Chicago. Terry was a kind, loving, lively, and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Terry was born in Spiddal, Co. Galway, Ireland in 1963. He moved to Wisconsin in 1986, where he began his family and had his three children. He moved to Chicago in 1999, where he worked for the Plumbers Union Local 130 as a technical engineer for 20+ years and met his now wife, Christine. Terry was proud of his Irish heritage and its culture, and enjoyed traveling to visit his family in Ireland many times.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Christine; children: Brendan McSweeney, Meghan (Michael) McSweeney, Stephan (Emma) McSweeney; stepdaughter; Kathryn (IIir) Mekolli, Amanda Vanderplow, Toni (Dino) Bekirovik, Samantha Vanderplow; grandchildren: Anna, Olivia, and Oisín; siblings: Colm, Maureen (Tommy), Steve (Marie), Ulick, and Margaret (Scott), his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, Ulick and Margaret; siblings, Michael, Máirtín, and infant Padraig, and sisters Siobhán, Bríd (Paddy), and infant Nóirín; and stepdaughter Erica.
To honor Terence’s life, a visitation will be held on Friday, January 14 at 3:00pm-9:00pm, followed by a celebration of life on Saturday, January 15 at 10:00am at Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 Roosevelt Rd, Hillside, IL.
